Software packages for Analysis of Electrical Networks
Redwing utilises DigSilent Power Factory network simulation software.
In addition, dedicated software tools have been developed in-house, specifically for power factor correction and tariff impact studies where large volumes of recorded raw data are required to be analysed.
Switching transient studies
- Insulation coordination studies.
- Design or verification of furnace transformer surge protection. RC network and surge arrester design and specification.

Investigations / Troubleshooting

Load Flow Studies
Both steady state and dynamic load flow studies can be conducted to typically evaluate:
- New equipment ratings (e.g. transformers, cables, switchgear, etc) and suitability of existing equipment ratings for all possible load and network configurations.
- Steady state power flows and voltage regulation to determine system load demands, generators with voltage control steady state characteristics, transformer tap settings, etc.
- Dynamic power flows and volt drops associated with large fluctuating loads, such as mine winders and electric arc furnaces.
- Detailed motor starting studies to determine system profiles such as voltage, current, speed, torque (load and motor), slip, etc.
